Just gave up "Bear" before we relocated this past January. There's a dog in our new neighborhood that has his "voice". It's kinda tough to hear it from time-to-time and remind myself its not coming from my back yard. I loved his personality...but why wouldn't I? He had his "family's" personality. including the occasional rebellious need to chew on something he shouldn't or dig a hole where he's not supposed to...chip off the ol' block.

The love we imbue in our pets is one of the joys of the pet lover's life. Marley and Me is a fuzzy and condensed version of what some parents go through with an adventuresome wayward child - such as the little seven-year old who rated his fifteen minutes of fame on the Today Show this morning and on uTube across the world by taking the family car, leading police on a wild chase, before returning home to hide - in the guise that he just didn't want to go to church.

The Shaggy Dog, Hooch, the recently departed Taco Bell Dog - all have opened a soft spot in our hearts, where most of us are needing to have the furry unconditional love nerve gently stroked and nurtured. And once they have done their job, too soon we have to let them go.
