I liked how you reminded that anyone interested in memoir might be more interested in fame than we realize. I think that's true. I think those of us who blog and who give personal details have a sense of comfort, for sure, and maybe even a need, with revealing to others who we are.

It is interesting how small moments are remembered after a lifetime of many similar moments. Why remember this one, while forgetting so many others?

This is one of the reasons I get so nervous about history, is that it's the selective memory of only a few moments in time, often preserved for posterity as a biased perspective of someone who, for unknown reasons, felt it worth noting.

I guess this is one of the interesting aspects of writing one’s memoir – being brave enough to commit even a few moments to the permanent perspective of the written word.

Thanks for the memories!

I think everyone's life is a hero's journey to some extent. Most people just don't realize just how heroic they are. My mother, for example, denies that she is a hero, but I think the many children she taught throughout her career as a speech pathologist would consider her a hero because she taught them how to communicate more effectively.

As to celebrities? Well, I've encountered a few in my time...

Thanks for this, Jerry. It never occurred to me to see a life story as a hero's journey.
